How To Sell My RV
October 13, 2011 2:06 pmI’ve been wondering how to sell my RV for months. I listed it on Craigslist first, but the only bites I had on the ad were obviously attempting to scam me out of my RV without paying. I was shocked. My RV is in fantastic condition. I had priced it fairly. When I listed it, I expected to have it sold within the week, but after a few weeks of no real interest, I removed the ad.
I considered the “old school” method of throwing a sign on the windshield and parking it in front of my house, but I was pretty sure it was against my homeowner’s association rules to park a recreational vehicle on the street overnight. I also didn’t like the thought of leaving it exposed to the elements when I had a perfectly sound indoor parking area available. I was a little stymied.
That’s when I stumbled upon a friend who had recently sold their RV. From what I understood they did not trade it in on a new RV or sell it directly to a traditional dealership so I asked them for advice. They laughed when I told them about the odd request for pickup of the RV the day before payment was due to arrive by courier in response to my Craigslist ad. It seems it’s a popular con this year.
Then they suggested something that made all the difference. They didn’t sell their RV to a traditional dealership, but they didn’t sell it on their own either. They found the “for sale by owner” experience as disheartening as I did. This is the point at which I discovered exactly how to sell my RV.
They told me to get online and contact the company they went through. SellMyRVToday.com handled their RV sale and they were positive they were exactly what I was looking for as well. I got on the website and checked out the service. It sounded perfect. The only qualifications on the RV were that it be a 2002 or newer. (They also don’t work with fifth wheels or travel trailers, but that worked for me since mine was a Class A).
By going through SellMyRVToday.com I was able to get my original asking price. I was able to avoid dealing with the title work and bank pay off hassle because they take care of it. I didn’t even have to deliver the vehicle. They pick up anywhere in the United States or Canada. Now I just have to take my old friends out to dinner as a thank you for recommending the site to me. Better yet, I’ll suggest we take a trip to one of my favorite camping grounds, my treat. Now that I was able to sell my old RV, I’ve got the new, larger RV I wanted. It will fit us all in with room to spare.
Thanks for all your help SellMyRVToday.com.
Sincerely,
Still RVing Just on a Larger Scale
