Next Time I Sell My RV, I Will Give You A Call!
August 15, 2011 5:20 pmTo Whom It May Concern,
Next time I sell my RV I will definitely call you, but I really blew it this time.
I have always been an RVer. It is, in my humble opinion, the cheapest and best way to travel. Since I bought my motorhome, I have gotten married and had two kids, so I needed a bigger one. I have always been pretty decent at selling stuff, and I do it mainly on the Internet and in the classified ads in the paper. When I decided to sell my recreational vehicle, I did my homework and looked at similar motorhomes for sale as mine, and decided on the price I should get for it. It was a real steal for someone who was looking to buy an RV. When I decided for sure that I was going to sell my RV, I placed the ads just where I mentioned, and some guy showed up that day, telling me he was interested. This is where RV sales became something I never want to venture into again … without help!
This potential buyer started giving my Winnebago an inspection, like he was some expert or something. He pointed out everything that was wrong with it, and kept asking why I wanted to sell my RV. I told him I was graduating up to the next size, but he acted like he didn’t believe me. When I put my RV up for sale, I knew I should have fixed a few items. I mean, it’s been around the track a time or two, so there were some minor repair issues, but nothing serious. I didn’t think that since I was selling my motorhome used, it needed to be perfect. It was a used RV for crying out loud!
Since there were some minor repair issues, and since I was pretty strapped for cash, he was able to talk my asking price down by about twenty-five percent. He forked over six hundred bucks cash and asked me to hold it, and told me he needed to go deposit the rest of the funds in the bank. That seemed legitimate enough for me.
An hour and a half went by, and this guy shows up again to complete the purchase of my RV. He wrote me a check, and I accepted it, since I already had six hundred of his dollars. Just to be sure, I wrote down the address and phone number on the check before I deposited it into the bank.
I was a little hasty, but I knew exactly what motorhome I wanted to buy, so I went from the bank to the RV dealer, and put five thousand down on my new recreational vehicle. I will admit that I was feeling a bit rich after selling my RV.
Two days later I got a notice from the bank, letting me know that my checking account was $1,400 overdrawn. I hadn’t even paid my monthly bills yet, and my account was bone dry! Turns out that this weasel was a crook, and that the check was no good. There were no funds to cover it, and my bank put a deficit on my account. In turn, the RV dealer that I went to started calling me about the check I wrote for the down payment not going through. Are you kidding me? I got scammed!
So I just learned about sellmyrvtoday.com, and I really wish I had known about it three months ago! I wouldn’t have had to return the new RV I thought I had, and I would have gotten the full price I was originally asking when I decided to sell my RV.
Learned Too Late,
